## 1. Can a new visitor tell what you do?

Check: Open your homepage and read only the first heading and paragraph. Ask someone unfamiliar with the business to describe your main service, who it helps and where you work.

Looks good when: Their answer matches the work you actually want to receive enquiries about.

If it needs work: Replace a broad slogan with a specific service description. Name the real service area if location matters. Keep the next step close to that explanation.

## 2. Can customers check whether you are a fit?

Check: Pick a service you want to sell. Find its inclusions, important exclusions and the information a customer needs before asking for a quote.

Looks good when: A visitor can understand the service without guessing what is included or making a call just to ask the basics.

If it needs work: Answer the questions customers actually ask. If prices vary, explain what affects the quote and what details you need; do not invent a fixed price.

## 3. Does the page work on a phone?

Check: Use a real phone to read the service information, open the menu and reach the contact form. Try portrait and landscape. Check text and buttons without zooming.

Looks good when: There is no sideways scrolling, essential content is readable, and buttons and form fields are easy to use.

If it needs work: Simplify cramped sections, shorten crowded navigation and give controls enough space. A desktop preview alone can miss mobile problems.

Result: [ ] Working well [ ] Needs attention [ ] Not applicable

## 4. Does the contact step reach the right person?

Check: Check the displayed phone number, email link and enquiry form. Arrange one clearly labelled test with the person receiving enquiries, then verify the message arrives and can be replied to.

Looks good when: The visitor sees a clear result, and the receiving person gets the details needed to respond.

If it needs work: Repair broken links or delivery first. Ask only for information needed at this stage. Explain what happens after submission and avoid promising a response time you cannot maintain.

Result: [ ] Working well [ ] Needs attention [ ] Not applicable

## 5. Are your business details consistent?

Check: Compare the website with the public profiles you use: business name, services, hours, contact details and service area. Check holiday hours and services you no longer offer.

Looks good when: The same current facts appear wherever customers are likely to check them.

If it needs work: Correct outdated information at its source. If you use Google Business Profile, check its eligibility and representation rules; online-only businesses are generally ineligible.

Result: [ ] Working well [ ] Needs attention [ ] Not applicable

## 6. Can visitors judge the work honestly?

Check: Review photos, examples, testimonials and claims. Confirm each one is accurate, current and approved for publication. Check that any illustrative example is clearly labelled.

Looks good when: Visitors can distinguish real completed work from demonstrations, and your claims have a basis you can explain.

If it needs work: Use approved photos and specific descriptions of what you did. Remove unsupported results or guarantees. If you do not have a case study yet, explain the process and scope clearly.

Result: [ ] Working well [ ] Needs attention [ ] Not applicable

## 7. Can people navigate and understand the page?

Check: Move through the page using Tab and Shift+Tab. Check that you can see which control has focus. Read link labels, form labels and image descriptions; open important pages from the main site.

Looks good when: Key actions work with the keyboard, links describe their destination, and useful pages are reachable through ordinary links.

If it needs work: Give controls visible labels, retain a visible focus indicator and describe meaningful images. These are starter checks, not a complete accessibility audit.

Result: [ ] Working well [ ] Needs attention [ ] Not applicable

## 8. Can you identify the next useful improvement?

Check: Write down the most important problem found above and how you will know it is fixed. If you already have enquiry or traffic records, use them as context and separate test or spam enquiries.

Looks good when: You have one specific task and a way to check the result, such as a working form or clearer service information.

If it needs work: Start with a broken contact step or misleading detail before adding more pages. Visits and views alone do not establish business growth, and this checklist does not predict Google rankings.
